Would Paul Gosar Serve Our Military and Veterans?
PRESCOTT, AZ – As a Member of Congress, there are few duties more solemn and vital than serving our men and women in uniform. It’s a responsibility Ann Kirkpatrick takes seriously, and she has been a firm and consistent ally for our military and Veterans, voting to fully fund our troops fighting terrorism overseas and supporting efforts to improve the care they receive on their return home. Paul Gosar, on the other hand, has made it clear that he hasn’t the first clue about the issues affecting our military and Veterans.
His website manages just 35 words to express his ideas, knowledge, and concern about military and Veterans issues.
Maybe that’s because he thinks that the U.S. military doesn’t actually work:
“Please tell me one program the federal government supports that actually works,” Gosar said at the Yavapai Tea Party forum on Saturday.
Does Gosar really think the U.S. military doesn’t work? Or did he just forget that it’s part of the federal government?
Certainly if his past statements are any indication, he hasn’t spent much time at all considering those who put their lives on the line for our country:Perhaps his best answer would once again be, “I’ve never been in the military, umm, I don’t understand a lot about that…” [Flagstaff Tea Party meeting 7/15/10]
Or maybe he said it best at his failed “unity rally” in Holbrook: “I have not been in the military, so I don’t know.” [Holbrook Unity Rally 8/26/10]
Then, Paul dodged the Arizona Daily Sun’s question, saying “I have not served in the military, and I want to know from the military, which we never get, the information that is required to make us win.” Exactly what information would “make us win” that you have in mind, Paul?
Is this really the attitude we can afford from our representative in Congress?“Paul’s lack of interest and knowledge of our military and the challenges our fighting men and women face both on the battlefield and after their return home is deeply troubling," said Kirkpatrick campaign manager Carmen Gallus.
"The folks of this district have every right to be worried that Paul hasn’t shown the slightest understanding or concern for our military and Veterans.”“Whether it has been voting to give our troops the resources they need on the front lines or standing up for our Veterans on their return home, Ann Kirkpatrick has always fought to keep our promises to our men and women in uniform. Greater Arizonans and our military deserve nothing less.”
