Today, the Obama Administration announced its decision to sue our state over SB 1070. Arizonans have had enough of Washington's failure to address this critical issue. This lawsuit is a distraction at a time when we need serious, effective solutions.
Arizona is ground zero for immigration, and we know as well as anyone that we need a national immigration strategy that starts with securing our border. Having the federal government sue the state will not help us achieve that goal.
I am determined to take real action on this issue. That's why I am working to send the National Guard to the border to put more boots on the ground in the short term, to greatly expand the U.S. Border Patrol to strengthen security in the long term, to support local law enforcement as they deal with the consequences of Washington's failed policies and to make sure that Arizona taxpayers don't have to pick up the bill.
